Naomi 3D sample is up for a public release around the end of this month!

This will be a very simple Thing much like the initial release of The Couch. For more information on what this is, check out patreon!

https://gyazo.com/ead118dcf6c5d617fd4bede4e3c5f186

This will be released here on New Grounds as one of the few 3D games you'll find on this site. Hopefully it goes well but we'll do our best to optimize and work out how to get this working through a browser. BUT due to the demands on the quality and reducing the boundaries to releasing builds there may be limits on what browsers this real-time animation will work on, mostly Web 2.0 browsers (Firefox, Opera, Chrome, etc but possibly not Safari and Edge)

But for those without the hardware or browser, a video will be released aswell!

Wouldn't this be taking time out of working on The Couch?
I always thought you'd tackle a 3D project after The Couch was done.
Animation looks really good, by the way.

Yes I mentioned this in the patreon post, this project is actually to make sure there's a regular stream of patreon content and public content to release.

The Couch is actually rather difficult to get frequent releases for especially with my schedule of the number of games i work on. The thing is I have to go through a long process just to get a single scene out, Painting, rigging, animating and then it needs to be part of the game, be implemented have story etc. And then once the scene is done it's best i do everything i can to get as much out of that one scene as possible.

Basically every new scene is starting over a long process. I love doing the 2D puppet stuff but it's very time consuming and i don't have enough time.

As i go through this process I feel like there's not enough content coming out from me even though i'm spending so much time getting it done. Especially when people see screen shots and it looks like the same content even though i've done a lot to it.

On the flip side, with a 3D model, i simply need to spend a couple days making an animation, make sure it imports properly, I can set up many angles and such, then release that. Making content to release with the 3D project is a lot easier now that naomi's model is done. On top of this most of my client work is 3D work, so there's techniques and tools I use that can apply to this project that don't require "patron time".

Naomi 3D (and FYI later the name of this project will be called "Our Apartment") is not a lead project until The Couch is done, it exists for now only to be some content that gets released during times The Couch's development doesn't have much to show. If i feel like The Couch will lack content for the month i'll whip up something with the existing 3D model to for people to enjoy.

Also this project is strictly real-time animation releases with some minor additional features liek camera control, its not a proper game. But ultimately will become one similar to The Couch.

i'm 100% comitted to The Couch, I just worry that i'm not delivering enough.

@momoirosoft
Yeah, those are the benefits of 3D animation.
Anyway, thanks for the insight and looking forward to whatever you make.
